President consoles people of Evansville USI Student Newspaper: The Shield by Jami Maday [02-14-02] Vol. 31 Issue 20 Vice President Dick Cheney spoke to an audience of 2,300 at the Civic Center downtown about the country's position in the War on Terrorism. Cheney's visit was assembled to sponsor Republican 8th District Rep. John Hostettler's campaign to run for Congress..... .....Members of USI's College Republicans attended Cheney's speech and some members met Cheney in person. "This is one of the biggest events in Evansville. This is great for the city," said freshman Amanda Clutter. "I'm glad to be a part of something to help John Hostettler," said Sean Selby, Executive Chairman. "We all really want to help Vice President Cheney. He is an American hero. I'm privileged to be active in this." |
