IU Basketball Star Kent Benson visits the USI College Republicans
Monday, February 4th, 2002

Kent Benson spoke on leadership and reminded us what champions are made of. The former basketball star who played for Bobby Knight at IU and 12 professional years, is now running for the highest spot in Indiana state government for 2002. There are currently five contenders for the Republican nomination (Kent Benson, Richard Mourdock, Mike Delph, Todd Rokita, and Jeff McGoff) and there is currently only one Democrat, Bloomington Mayor John Fernandez.

Benson tells us that it is most important that the Republican candidate that is chosen can beat the Democrat and that name recognition will be vitally important to accomplish that. Kent emphasized that his job would be promoting teamwork, leadership, and character and that he has high hopes to "Restore Excellence to Indiana." For any additional information on Kent, visit www.kentbenson.com. Thanks to all of you who took part and thanks to Kent Benson and Cam Savage for taking the trip all the way down from Bloomington!
